The wood
Red cedar from Canada
The Comfy Chair adirondack furniture made of wood is made of red cedar. The wood comes from Canada, from the forests of Vancouver. In Canada, forest management and responsible logging are high on the list of priorities. And for good reason: about 9% of all forests worldwide are found in this country. The wooden slats the Comfy Chairs are cut from whole planks. This gives a beautiful, natural result. You can see the naturally occurring flaming in the slats. This also means that colour differences between the slats are possible. This is part of the natural material; every Comfy Chair is 100% unique. Over time, as the furniture ages, this effect diminishes.
The production process
- In Vancouver forests, trees are harvested according to responsible policies;
- The trees are cut into planks and assessed for quality;
- The selected planks are processed into chair parts and transported by boat to the Netherlands;
- The parts are packed in boxes. The packages are fitted with the necessary fasteners. We use stainless steel fasteners to match the quality of the chairs.
Characteristics of red cedar
A characteristic of red cedar wood is that it greys over time. That is, under the influence of sunlight and the weather, the colour of the wood becomes greyer. Fans of red cedar like this. Red cedar is a special type of wood. It is lightweight, yet extremely strong. For wooden garden furniture, it is a very fine material. The assembly
The wooden Comfy Chair furniture is shipped as a kit. You receive a compact cardboard box containing the various parts and fasteners.
