What’s the best way to maintain wooden Comfy Chairs? You can read it here!
With a little love and attention, wooden Comfy Chairs will last an incredibly long time. For instance, we ourselves have chairs in our garden that have been outside for more than 20 years. Always. Because that is the beauty of red cedar: wet autumns and even harsh winters are no problem for this strong wood species.
Do you also want to enjoy your wooden Comfy Chairs for as long as possible? We give you the answers to the most frequently asked questions about maintaining & cleaning our red cedar furniture.
Comfy Chairs can basically stay outside any time. The wood is resistant to rain and wind. Red cedar also has the special property that it does not rot and naturally repels insects. You can read more about the wood type here.
We do add an important tip: beware of storms! Red cedar is lightweight. A Comfy Chair Original, for example, weighs only 10 kilos. We once had to lift ours out of a hedge after a big autumn storm….
After winter, a green layer may appear on your garden furniture. This layer is caused by mosses and algae. Nothing to worry about; with a quick clean you can freshen up the Comfy Chairs in no time:
Be careful! Red cedar is a soft type of wood. You can destroy it if you are too heavy-handed. Therefore, we also give a few warnings:
New Comfy Chairs have a light brown colour. Over time, the wood will grey. Lovers of cedar often find this beautiful, but you can also try to keep the brown colour as long as possible. For this, you can use a wood oil for garden furniture. You can buy this at almost all hardware stores. The oil soaks into the wood and slows down ageing.
When assembling Comfy Chair furniture, you attach the parts together with screws and wood glue. After a few years, the glue loses its strength. The chair may then wobble a little. You can remedy this by unscrewing the parts that are too loose and applying new wood glue. Screw the parts back on and your chair will last a while again!
The influence of rain and wind can make the wood rougher over time. You can remedy this by lightly sanding the chairs from time to time. Use a small-grit sandpaper and gently sand the wood.
