Cedarwood contains natural oils. We often find that oil smells nice. The aroma is used, for example, in scented products and in aromatherapy. Insects, on the other hand, absolutely do not like the smell. Because of the oil, the wood is naturally protected against insects, rot and mould. And that is unique: unlike most other types of wood, red cedar can be shipped from Canada to the Netherlands without treatment.
Red cedar does not heat up quickly. Garden furniture made of this material therefore stays cool in the sun for a long time.
